If You are an Older Adult - this is for YOU
When we refer to “older adults” we are referring to retired, semi retired, and almost retired people. But what does being retired mean for us? For some “retirement” immediately brings to mind images of winters spent in warmer climates, and days filled with hobbies and other enjoyable activities. For others who may not have ample bank accounts or an open calendar waiting to be filled with pleasurable pursuits, this may mean a part time job, visiting nearby relatives, and making time for things they enjoy.
Regardless of age or financial status, all older adults have much in common – and much to offer!!
At GAC we provide a caring community for the older adults in Halton Hills and facilitate many ways to grow in their relationship with Christ, organize events and activities to enjoy being with each other and caring for one another, offer practical seminars and helpful resources to help manage the predictable adjustments that accompany the later stages of life, and provide ways to reach out to neighbours and friends with the life giving message of the good news of Jesus.
Regardless of where you may fit on the “retirement timeline” we have a place for YOU here at GAC.

Fabulous Friday Events
Our monthly Fabulous Friday events are planned specifically with the interests of the older adults in our community in mind. Whether you come for a noon luncheon, a dinner followed by a concert in the church auditorium, or a movie afternoon complete with an intermission and refreshment, you are sure to enjoy these times of laughter, interaction, and entertainment. Some of our guests have included Gospel Elvis, the Hilton Family, The Jubilance Choir and Orchestra, the TORCHMEN Quartet, and Eduard Klassen. Each Fabulous Friday event is held the LAST Friday of the month (from September to May) so be sure to call the church office at 905 873-0249 to find out about the next Fabulous Friday. You won’t want to miss it!!
Tuesday Morning Devotionals
Every Tuesday morning from September to June, we meet at 10:00 am for a time of connecting with God and each other. A highlight for all is joining together to sing our favourite hymns that many of us learned in earlier years. Also included in the morning is a Bible message and an opportunity to prayer for each other. Feel free to join us for any of these Tuesday morning devotionals.
Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study
If you are seeking a place to go to enjoy an in depth study of the Bible then this is the place to be. We meet here at GAC every 2nd Wednesday from September to May at 1:00 pm for Bible study. Of course, no get together is complete without an informal time for chatting around a table with dessert and coffee.
Seniors Seminars
As GAC seniors, we all agree that we are never too old to learn. Our seminars are put together with the interests of seniors in mind. Some past topics include – Cooking for One (or Two), Preparing for the Future (looking at dealing the issues around failing health), Wills and Estate Planning, and Dealing with Diabetes.
Excursions and Special Events
From time to time we plan special outings for our older adults. Not only do we make sure each event is affordable, but there is lots of variety as well. Some past events have included taking in a Gaither concert, touring an historic site, or taking a lunchtime cruise. Space is always limited so you won’t want to miss one of these excursions.

Ministering to the Seniors in our Community
GAC cares about the seniors that have difficulty joining us here at the church so we hold worship services in the 2 LTC facilities in Georgetown as well as the retirement residence. Every 3rd Tuesday morning of the month at 10:00 am we meet for our devotional in the chapel at Mountainview Residence. Every 4th Sunday of the month we gather for worship at Extendicare at 2:00 pm. We hold services at the Bennett Centre as scheduled at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoons.
