Parents Page
Hi, I’m Tim Brown. I oversee youth ministries here at GAC. Our goal is is to partner with you the parent/guardian to engage your teen to walk in the Way, be entrenched in the Truth and to lead other into this Life. We just don’t want to get your teen to church (even though that would be great). We want them to find and be in a dynamic relationship with their Creator and Savior to such a degree that it will radically change their life and be engaged with His Body, the Church.
Allow me to explain further. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me”. We believe that any individual who wants to walk in the way, must know the Way. Anyone wants to know and understand truth, they must know the Truth, and if anyone want to live life to its fullest they must know the Life. Jesus just isn’t a way or a truth or a life, He is the embodiment and fullest expression of those realities. So, if we are to know direction in our lives, if we are to know the certainty of our faith, our moral and ethics, and if we are to know and live life in its fullest expression, we must know the Person from whence it comes.
Let’s make this practical for you as a parent. There is no greater time in human experience when one undergoes such radical change than the years surrounding puberty. Tweens and teens struggle to discover who they are, what they believe, and what direction they are going to set for the rest of their foreseeable future. We as parents have the noble task of “training up our children in the way they should go”. This includes demonstrating to them what a relationship with their God looks like, instructing them in the Lord, and allowing them to grow in that knowledge. Our goal as a youth ministry is to partner with you to help you accomplish this. First, we want to provide you with resources that will help to equip you to be the parent that God has designed you to be. Secondly, we want to provide opportunities for you and your teens to grow spiritually together. And finally, we want to provide opportunities for your teen to engage with God. Now the practical side. When your teen sees the life of Christ lived out in you (not perfectly, but passionately) and hears the wisdom and instruction that comes from God’s Word, and has the opportunity to live it out in a safe environment, they will desire to know the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
This web page is like each and every Christian. It is a work in progress. This page gives us the opportunity to get resources into your hands. It is also an excellent way for you (in the blog section) to communicate idea with other parents. It is also a very effective way to communicate to you the different opportunities or events your teens can get hooked in to.
We also desire to provide a safe environment, (whether online, at the church or offsite at events) which would provide an enviroment that is conducive for learning, spiritual growth, and a lot of fun! In order for this to happen, we need to know some pertinent information that will help us do that. We have also included a blanket permission form for you to sign (if you so decide) for our special events. This form allows us to quickly register your child for special events and eases the burden of paper work for both of us. Please hand this form in as soon as possible. Just “click here” and this will take you to this form.
If you have any questions about the program, or if we can help in any way, please do not hesitate in giving me a call. My number is 905-873-0249 ex. 106 or click here to send me an email.
From the youth staff, once again we would like to thank you for partnering with you in discipling your youth!
